Changelog
We're constantly shipping. Here is a rundown of the latest updates and improvements to Polymer.
Job board localization
We added the ability to select a locale for the language of the organization's Job Board. We started with Dutch (available now) and Swedish is in the pipeline. We are open to all customer requests for languages.
Other improvements & fixes
- If INR (Rupees) is chosen as the salary currency, the formatting will display in Indian Number Formatting on the job board
- Jobs are now ordered alphabetically within their Categories on an organization’s Job Board
Webhooks
You can now add a webhook URL endpoint that Polymer will POST to anytime a new job application is created. This allows you to build your own integrations that can react in real time whenever you receive a new job applicant.
To get started, visit the Polymer webhooks configuration page from the integrations tab within app settings and simply add the endpoint URL.
Other improvements
- Application question order is now preserved when a job is cloned
Embedded job board
Organizations can now display their job list on any website they administer by pasting a generated embed code in the desired location within a page's HTML. This functionality can be accessed from within job board settings found in app settings.
Application form reCAPTCHA
To head off any potential issues with bot applications, we have added Google's reCAPTCHA to the application process. This provides protection against spam applications while keeping the application process completely frictionless for legitimate applicants. Unless suspicious activity is detected, an applicant will not have to complete any additional verification.
Account deletion
Users can now choose to delete their account. This action can be performed from within the new management page within account settings. Deleting an account is a permanent action and cannot be undone. When a user deletes their account, they will immediately lose access to all Polymer organizations that they are currently a member of.
Other improvements
- Minor user experience improvements related to how login links are handled
Transfer organization ownership
We just shipped a streamlined ownership transfer feature in Polymer, allowing you to transfer organization ownership directly within the app. Previously this could only be done by contacting our support team.
This feature can be found on the "team" page within "app settings". Note that only current owners can initiate transfers.
Email designs
We've rolled out updated designs for all emails sent from the Polymer hiring app. This includes notification emails for events that occur within the app as well as those used for direct candidate communications.
Contact form
We've added an in-app contact form to make it easy to reach out to the Polymer team with any questions or feedback. It can be viewed by clicking "contact us" from the user dropdown in the top-right.
User account portal
Not long ago, we shipped the ability for a single user account to be used across multiple organizations. With this release, we're improving how you manage that account by moving all user account settings from the hiring app to a dedicated portal.
With this change, you'll have a convenient spot for making updates to your profile and other user preferences with the effects being applied across all organizations you are a part of.
Transactional email designs
We've made various layout and design improvements to the email templates that are used when you receive updates from hiring events that occur in Polymer.
Other fixes
- Fixed a minor issue where the close button would have to be clicked more than once if a user attempted to navigate to a settings page that is already being viewed.
Zapier integration
We've shipped a new Zapier integration that allows you to easily build automations that are triggered by events in Polymer.
For this initial release, three triggers are supported: when a job is published, when a new candidate application is received, and when a candidate is moved to the hired stage. We plan to continue adding support for additional triggers over time.
The Zapier integration can be configured within the Integrations section of Account Settings. Check out our documentation for a full overview of the setup process.
Bulk candidate import
Multiple candidates can now be added to a job at once via an uploaded CSV file. This enables you to easily import candidates that you may have collected outside of Polymer.
A bulk import can be initiated by clicking the "import candidates" option from the dropdown located in the top right when viewing a job. An interface will then be presented that provides formatting instructions, an example template, and a form field for uploading your file.
Discord community
We have set up a Discord server as a hub for the Polymer community. Through it, we hope to build a support network to help creators like you coordinate, share resources, and learn from each other. You can join and invite others using this link: https://discord.gg/MgQxHMYZFN
WWR post upgrades
When distributing a job post to We Work Remotely, you can now include optional upgrades to help your job advertizement stand out on their site. These upgrades can be configured and purchased from the We Work Remotely distribution page located within job settings.
Improved candidate export
The candidate export feature has been improved to include additional information when exporting candidates from a job. Previously, only contact information was exported, but with this update, resumes, responses to custom application questions, candidate source, hiring stage, and notes are now included in the generated CSV file.
Other fixes
- Fixed an issue that could cause the WWR distribution form to become stuck in a loading state until refreshed if the user attempted a purchase without providing all required fields.
Custom application confirmation
We added the ability to automatically send a message to new candidates when an application is received. If enabled, your message will be sent instead of the default confirmation from Polymer. This can be configured from the automations tab within job settings.
Other improvements & fixes
- Performance improvements for job boards
- The keyboard shortcut to open candidate search has been changed from F to /.
Polymer
We have rebranded from Wrk to Polymer and have moved to a new domain, polymer.co. Any existing Wrk links, for both the hiring app and job boards, will simply forward to the new domain. Likewise, email conversations with current candidates will seamlessly transition to being powered by new Polymer email addresses.
Take a look at the full announcement to hear our thinking behind it and why we believe this new identity is a great fit for our product and our future.
Job sharing
A new interface has been added facilitate sharing job posts. It can be accessed from within the job settings screen on any published job. The job sharing modal allows you to quicky and easily generate posts on Twitter and LinkedIn. Additionally, you can create your own share links that enable you to track the source of any candidates that apply after using that link.
Candidate permalinks
We have added the ability to copy a permalink to a candidate. These links will always direct to a candidate profile within a job regardless of what stage they are currently in.
Other improvements & fixes
- Improved the URL redirect that occurs after a new user accepts an invite
- Improved the error screen that displays when a user attempts to view a job they do not have access to.
- Fixed an issue that occurred if a job board had no logo and was configured to only show a logo
Multiple organizations
A Wrk user account can now be a member of multiple organizations. Previously, a user account could only be associated with a single organization. This change enables a user to be involved with hiring efforts across multiple organizations without having to create multiple accounts. Additionally, this provides larger organizations the option of splitting into multiple sub-organizations, each with their own job board.
The organization switcher can be accessed from the user menu in the top-right corner of the app. Opening the organization switcher will display a list of all organizations you have access to. You can select an organization to view, accept invitations, or create new organizations.
Slack integration
An integration has been added that allows you to notify a channel within your organizations Slack workspace whenever a new job application is received. The full candidate application is displayed, making it easy to review and discuss.
This can be setup within the Integrations section found in Account Settings. Our setup documentation walks through the entire process.
Notification hub improvements
Multiple performance improvements have been made to the notification hub that will result in faster load times when a large quantity of notifications exist. Additionally, notification counts have been added to show the number of unread notifications that exist for each type.
Email notification preferences
You can now manage email notifications by type. Emails for new candidate applications, new comments or reviews, and new messages from candidates can all be enabled and disabled individually, giving you more control over the types of notifications you receive. This can be configured from within the preferences section of account settings.
Job salary/wage
You now have the ability add a job's salary or wage information within job details. This information can be entered as a fixed amount or as a range. Multiple compensation timeframes are supported as well, ranging from hourly to yearly. If salary or wage information is provided, it will be displayed at the top of the job post with the other job traits.
Other improvements & fixes
- Our Google Jobs integration now supports their salary and direct apply features
- A confirmation modal has been added when archiving a job
- A new employment type of "volunteer" has been added as an option in job settings
- Fixed an issue that prevented the application form from displaying correctly when previewing a hidden job
Candidate files
A new files section has been added under each candidate. This new section exists as single location for all the files that may pertain to a candidate during the hiring process. This includes any files that the candidate supplied with their application, files that have been received as message attachments, and up to 10 additional files, which can be uploaded directly by members of the hiring team.
Other fixes
- Fixed an issue that could prevent a user from creating a new subscription after having canceled one previously
Anonymize candidate
Features have been added that allow you to anonymize candidates by removing personally identifying information from an application. This can be performed from within the three-dot dropdown menu within a candidate profile. When a candidate is anonymized, all occurences of their name is removed, their resumes are deleted, and all their contact information is deleted.
Additionally, candidates have the ability to request that their information be removed. Upon submitting a request, the hiring team will be notified that the candidate profile should be anonymized.
